International Wine Contest
As you probably noticed our travel agency’s name is “Cultural Romtour”, that means you will experience with us the best cultural tours you can have in Romania. But the culture of our nation it’s not just churches, architecture, cities, etc is also its people, its tradition, its music, its food and ITS WINES! Wine is part of the culture of this nation, and if someone would come to Romania and not taste our wines it is like just observe a church from outside and not going inside ! In Transylvania we will taste mainly white wines. Here, in the Tarnave region (the name comes from the Tirnava river) they only plant white grapes, because we are at the northern climatic limit of vineyards (for red grapes the sunny period would be too short and would not allow the accumulation of colour pigments and sugar). White wines, though, are favored; the long ripping period allows the accumulation of vinous flavours and a stronger consistency.

DAY 1
Thursday: Arrival in Bucharest and transfer to Sibiu, the Cultural Capital of Europe 2007. Dinner and accommodation.

DAY 2
Friday: Short walking city tour. After that we participate to the International Wine Contests. You will have the opportunnity to taste and apreciate the romanian wines and to compare them to the europeans ones. You can also meet important people from the wine industry and if you want to, we can arrange private meetings with them. Dinner and same accommodation.

DAY 3
Saturday: Today depending on the Contest program and your wishies we depart in the morning or afternoon to Jidvei, the best vinery in Transylvania. You will have the honor to tast the wines in an old castle and obviously enjoy one of the best white dry wines from Romania.

DAY 4
Sunday: We depart to Brasov. On the way we visit Sighisoara, in the middle of Transylvania, best preserved medieval inhabited citadel and Brasov. Wine tasting at Halewood wine cellers. Dinner and wine tasting will be at “Casa Seciu“ a famous Romanian restaurant in the middle of a beautiful landscape surrounded by the vineyards. The castle is dated early 20th century and is an architectural monument. One could say that these wines resemble to the German ones in the Valley of the Rhine. In Prahova valley we will be introduced to Romanian red wines, and be guests to one of the best vineyards where the best red Romanian wine is produced “Fetească Neagră”.

DAY 5
Monday: Lunch at Casa Urlateanu, obviously with a wine tasting and afternoon transfer to the airport.
