Did you know that in 50BC the Dacian King Burebista was forced to give a law to restrict the wine plantations throughout his empire (old Dacia was conquered in 106AC by the Romans)?
Did you know that Romania has about 10 grape sorts that you can’t find anywhere else in the world? Those are just a couple of reasons to come and explore Romanian wine culture.
DAY 1
Arrival in Bucharest where you will meet your guide. Welcome cocktail in your 4* Hotel where you will receive a briefing about the wine industry in Romania. Dinner and accommodation at a 4* Hotel.
DAY 2
Transfer to Iasi, having lunch on the way. Lodging at the 4* Hotel Traian in Iasi, special dinner with wine tasting in a monk monastery nearby.
DAY 3
Visit to the Cotnari vineyard, the most famous vineyard of this area, with the flagship wine “Grasa de Cotnari”. A meeting with the management as well as a wine tasting are scheduled. Lunch in Iasi, and in the afternoon visit to the Bucium vineyard and meeting with the management. Dinner and accommodation in the same hotel.
DAY 4
Departure to the most important wine area in Romania (Vrancea region). Lunch on the way. Arrival in Focsani and accommodation at a 3*+ Hotel. Meeting with the officials of the local Chamber of Commerce and other business people. Dinner.
DAY 5
First visit to a vineyard in this region, Panciu. Meeting with the management and the technical staff. Wine tasting and lunch. In the afternoon visit of the Vincon vineyard, now one of the most important vineyards of Romania, and obviously wine tasting. Dinner and accommodation in the same Hotel
DAY 6
In the morning we will visit the Nicoresti vineyard. We will meet again with the management and the technical team. Lunch and wine tasting. In the afternoon we shall visit the last vineyard of this region, Odobesti. Dinner and accommodation in the same Hotel.
DAY 7
Departure to Ploiesti. On the way we will visit the best region for red wines in Romania, the Prahova region. Visit of the Dealu Mare vineyard, wine tasting and lunch. In the afternoon arrival in Ploiesti, at a 4* Hotel. Dinner and accommodation.
DAY 8
In the morning we will visit another vineyard of Romania and after lunch we will depart to the Bucharest. Farewell dinner and accommodation at a 4* Hotel.
DAY 9
Departure home. Be prepared to take some good Romanian wines with you.
