This trip you should do it ASAP. The remains of the old communist times are vanishing very quick , especially in Romania. Take the chance to look and feel how was 20 years ago, and tell to your relatives and friends about it. You will “enjoy “ a piece of live from that times, visit monuments and experience life of one of the latest “bastion” of the communist era – The Transnistria Republic, a republic with 600,000 inhabitants, linked 100% with the Russians, and were the communists are still in power. This Republic is almost unique in the world , being recognized just by North Ossetia , another republic in the same situation.

Day 2. Sunday:
Visit of the Parliament Palace in Bucharest, the second largest building in the world, built in the 80’s from a gigantic idea of Ceausescu. Lunch in mall. Extraordinary, Ceausescu wanted that the Romanian population should eat their junk food ONLY in the so called “cantina” so nobody should have the chance to cook home. Anyway it wasn’t almost anything on the market so the population was starving so they had to go to these “cantina”. Nowadays ALL the ex cantina are mall’s and super mall’s and the young people are eating BY FREE WILL
Junk food!!! Afternoon departure to Brasov, the city where in 1987 the first serious strike against Ceausescu started on 15th of November. Dinner with Mt. Postolachi leader of the “15
November” association who will tell us how was in that days, show us pictures and discuss about the secret police in the Ceausescu time. Accommodation in a 3* Hotel.
Day 3. Monday:
Visit the city of Brasov, visit a tractor or truck factory who was bankrupt, and we receive explanations about how the old communists changed so quick in very skilled capitalists. Lunch in Brasov, and departure afternoon to Focsani. Here you will enjoy the nice accommodation in an old communist Hotel, who by our chance was not renovated, and enjoy also a dinner in a typical communist Restaurant getting a “high quality communist service”.
Day 4. Tuesday:
Today we depart to Republic of Moldavia. The capital of the Republic of Moldova – finding soviet roots in an European capital – city tour + looking for the statue of Lenin in a parkfrom Chisinau, visiting the National Museum of History that includes the exhibits of the former Museum of the Lenin’s newspaper “Iskra” - spark (op.1960), and the History Museum of the Moldovan communist party (op.1970). Lunch in a restaurant opened during the soviet times – 1975 and a meeting with a deported person, more than 16.000 families were declared in the period 1947-1951 and 1965– “social class enemies” (apr.55.000 persons) and deported to other soviet regions. In the evening visiting one of the biggest underground
wine city from Europe ”Cricova” – opened in the ’60 – mainly the only good thing left after the soviets (degustation+dinner). Accommodation in a 4* Hotel Flowers.
Day 5. Wednesday:
Today we invite you to meet “homo sovieticus” in TIRASPOL (capital of Transnistria) - the old USSR is still alive and well in Transnistria, also known as Trans-Dniester and Pridnestrovie. It is a breakaway territory within the internationally recognised borders of Moldova. Although not recognised by any state or international organisation and de jure a part of Moldova, it is de facto an independent state called the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. The country’s national coat of arms still includes the traditional hammer and sickle and the occasional Lenin statue hasn’t yet been pulled down. The Pridnestrovie today may still retain the look of a Communist state and it’s called “the last remaining Stalinist dictatorship in Europe”. Here we can stay only ½ day due to the political restrictions, so we will try once again to look for Lenin (they have even a black one next to the House of Soviets) + city tour and have lunch in an old restaurant called “Friendship”- ironically, no? Departure to Purcari winery the best one in southeastern part of Moldova, during the wine tasting we will drink even the wine which is enjoyed by the British queen. Accommodation/dinner at Purcari.

From Purcari we depart back to Romania. On the way we visit a “colhoz” - a type of run by state farm, have lunch, and cross the Prut river, the border between
Romania and Republic of Moldavia, at Cahul–Oncesti. Dinner and accommodation at Galati, a famous industrial city on the Danube, where the jewel of the crown of the communist industry was, the Steel factory!!! Special dinner based on Danube fish specialties.
Day 7. Friday:
The boring 300 km to Bucharest we will manage to overcome in 4-5 hours so that we arrive in Bucharest around 4 Pm having already lunch on the way. Free time for shopping or some sightseeing, and special farewell dinner in Restaurant Jaristea, who will show us the life in Bucharest in its golden times, 1920-1930’s. Accommodation in a 3* Hotel.
