Romania and Bulgaria Mixed Tour

Day 1. Arrival in Bucharest. City tour of Bucharest where we can visit the Palace of Parliament (former Palace of Socialism during Ceausescu’s dictatorship - the second biggest building in the world after Pentagon), the Patriarchal church, the Village Museum. Accommodation at a 4* Hotel. Dinner in Dracula’s Club or another elegant Restaurant.

Day 2. (400 km) Bucharest - Giurgiu (crossing the Danube) - Russe - Sofia . After breakfast, departure to Giurgiu where we cross the border over the Danube to Russe, where the
Bulgarian guide will meet us. Lunch on the way in Pleven. Arrival in Sofia. Accommodation at a 4* Hotel and city tour of Sofia. Specific Bulgarian dinner outside the Hotel.

Day 3. (100 km) Sofia - Plovdiv. After completing the city tour of Sofia, we will drive and visit the famous Rila monastery, and have lunch near by with a very interesting cooked trout. Arrival in Plovdidv, one of Bulgaria’s oldest settlements, a rich archeological and cultural city. Accommodation at a 4* Hotel and a short city tour. Dinner in an old Restaurant in the ancient city.

Day 4. (250 km) Plovdiv - Veliko Tirnovo. After breakfast, departure to Tirnovo. On the way, we will stop in the rose city of Kazanluk, visit the Thracian tomb (unique in the world) and the Rose Museum, and have the chance to buy rose perfume. We will also visit Etara an open museum and have lunch there with a specific buffalo yogurt. Etara was founded in the 60s, when a national renaissance was necessary to keep old traditions alive. The workshops and the shops of the tanners, the jewelers, the handicraftsmen that manufacture knives and weavers make for an interesting visit. Arrival in Veliko Tirnovo, accommodation and a tour of the city. If possibile we will enjoy the sound and light show. Dinner in the city.

Day 5. (300 km) Tirnovo - Varna.After breakfast, departure to Arbanasi, the most beautiful monastery in Bulgaria, the Christ Birth’s Church and we have lunch here. On the way we will visit the Madara Cavalier from Sumen. Arrival in Varna. Dinner and accommodation.

Day 6. (450 km) Varna - Durankulak (border) - Vama - Tulcea, bording on the 4* boat hotels. After breakfast, departure to Romania, if possibile we wil visit the former Romanian king’s residence from Balcik and the famous gardens.Lunch in Constanta and city tour. Arrival in Tulcea and boarding on the 4* Boat Hotels. Dinner and departure to the Danube Delta.

Day 7. The Danube Delta The entire day we will visit Danube Delta and have lunch on the boat hotels or a picnic. Special dinner. This is one of the highlight days of the whole trip.
The food is excelent, you will receive caviar and specific Danube Delta fish cooked in a special way. It is really amazing.

Day 8. (350 km) Tulcea - Iasi. After breakfast, departure to Moldova, the heart of the Romanian Orthodocsism and its capital Iasi. Lunch in Birlad, on our way to Iasi. Arrival in Iasi
where we meet our local guide. City tour and visit of the Culture Palace, The Mitropolitan Church, “Three Hierarchs Church”, The Catholic Church. Dinner in a monk monastery with Byzantine church music sung by the students choir from the Theological University of Iasi, and have officials from the Orthodocs church as guest. Accommodation at a 4* Hotel in the heart of the city.

Day 9. (250 km) Iasi - Gura Humorului. We depart to Bucovina and visit the monastery Dragomirna, the residence of Bucovina’s bishop in Suceava. Lunch in Suceava and departure to Gura
Humorului, our location for 2 days. In the afternoon we will visit the first monastery from the UNESCO Heritage - Voronet. Dinner and accommodation at a 4* Hotel in Gura Humorului.

Day 10. (120 km) – Exploring Bucovina We start our program and visit 4 out of 5 UNESCO protected monasteries (Sucevita, Moldovita, Humor and Arbore). Lunch in Radauti, the first capital of Moldavia. Accommodation at the same a 4* Hotel in Gura Humorului, dinner at a local family 30 km away with folk music.

Day 11: (350 km) Gura Humorului - Cluj Napoca. After breakfast, departure back to Transylvania through Borgo Pass. Very scenic drive! Coffee break at Dracula Motel on the way. Lunch in
Bistrita, an old saxon city. Arrival in Cluj Napoca. Accommodation at a 4* Hotel, short city tour and specific Hungarian dinner.

Day 12: (150 km) Cluj Napoca - Brasov After breakfast, we head to Brasov. Arrival in the most beautiful Saxon city in Romania and Eastern Europe, Sighisoara. Visit of the citadel,
which is still enhabited and lunch in the Dracula Restaurant, where Vlad the Impaler was born in the 14th century. We head to Brasov, but before arriving there we will visit the Bran Castle (known as Dracula Castle, 20 km away from Brasov). Arrival in Brasov. Accommodation at a 4* Hotel in the center of the city. Leisure time for shopping. Special dinner with a clasic music show in „Cetate” Restaurant in Brasov.

Day 13: (200 km) After breakfast, departure to Sinaia. Lunch break in Sinaia after we will visit the Peles Castle - former summer residence of the King’s family in Romania (built in 1875 and the most beautiful in the S-E of Europe). Arrival in Bucharest Otopeni Airport. Departure.
